Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serdar Altun enrolled in Fırat University Faculty of Medicine in 1997 and completed his 6-year medical education in 2003, graduating as the top student of his department. In 2003, he began his residency at the 2nd Plastic Surgery Clinic of Ankara Numune Training and Research

Hospital and completed his 6-year specialty training in 2009. In 2010, he was appointed to Ankara Etlik SSK Hospital; after serving there for 10 months, he completed 11 months of military service as a reserve officer at Haydarpaşa GATA. Following his military service, he served at Elazığ SSK Hospital for 3 years. In 2014, he was appointed as Assistant Associate Professor to the Department of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery at Fırat University, and in 2018 he successfully passed the associate professorship examination and received the title of associate professor.
